Yairis Gameros-Escobedo was born in Hickory, North Carolina, but grew up in Lenoir, North Carolina. When she got to high school she appreciated the arts,  exploring different mediums, from painting to drawing. After high school, she attended Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute and received her Associate in Arts. During her time at CCC&TI, she worked with a new medium: printmaking and digital image making. She is pursuing her BFA in Studio Art at Appalachian State University, focusing on photography. At ASU, she has worked in drawing, painting, ceramics, fibers, photography, printmaking, metals, etc. Gameros-Escobedo's work has been published in CCC&TI's Branches Volume 24, and she has exhibited her photographs at the Art and Design Expo at Appalachian State University and Florence Thomas Art School.
